The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant

On Sunday, 3 June 2012 The Queen celebrated her Diamond Jubilee with a glorious river pageant on the Thames that involved a thousand boats, over 250 of which were man-powered. Carrying State Trumpeters, Gloriana had pride of place leading this squadron and the flotilla as a whole, creating what The Times described as ‘the Canaletto moment’. Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent were among the oarsmen and women comprised of other Olympians, Paralympians and injured veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan aboard, selected by Motability, the disabled mobility charity whose patron is The Queen.
